Artwork Explained: Valhalla Calls

Artwork Explained: Valhalla Calls

This week we launched the incredible, Norse inspired Valhalla Calls apparel range. This range is inspired by Valhalla, which is a hall of slain Viking warriors located in Asgard. The Viking warriors who live there, do so blissfully after their death under the leadership of Odin.

Valhalla is depicted and said to be a splendid palace with a roof of shields, where the fallen warriors feast on the flesh of a boar slaughtered everyday and the same boar is made whole again each evening.

They drink liquor that flows from the udders of a goat, and their pass time there is fighting one another every day. It is said that they would live there until the Ragnarök, when they will march out of the Five Hundred and fourty doors of the palace in order to fight at the side of Odin against the giants. When heroes fall in battle it is said that Odin needs them in Valhalla in order to strengthen his forces for the Ragnarök.

This work of wearable art was created by the talent Pyros, Learn more about him below.

I am extremely fascinated with culture, history, art and occult symbolism and their relationship with art. It was this fascination and passion that drove me to studying theology and also fine art. I make sure that every work of art that I create is inspired by a mythological story, character or symbol that intrigues and inspires me. I spend most of my time researching and planning designs through reading mythological history books and articles in order to understand the story from many different perspectives and create art that brings the story to life. I consider myself a unique person with a complex personality.

We hope you love this collection just as much as we do!
