Artwork Explained: Norns & Nature

Artwork Explained: Norns & Nature

This week we will be exploring the artist and the artwork behind the incredible Norns & Nature apparel range. It seems like we have a trend going at the moment and we are celebrating talented female artists! Last week we dropped the Nine worlds apparel range by the talented female artist Blair and this week we are dropping the all new Norns & Nature apparel range by the incredible Dyrmaor.

Dyrmaor is a French artist, illustrator and graphic designer. Dyrmaor prides herself in her ability to take an individual concept or idea and turn it into a show stopping work of art! Dyrmaor is mostly recognized for her "dreamlike" artwork style and for borrowing spellbinding stories from mythology and history and turning it into an artistic image. She likes to think of herself as a storyteller but not one that uses words but rather pictures.

This work of wearable art is inspired by the three Norns in Norse mythology. These three female beings  decided the life course and length for every single being in the cosmos. The three Norns resided in a hall based at the well of Urd which was also located in Asgard. These Norns were not considered to be Goddesses but rather beings of time and the literal personification of the past, the present and the future.

The three Norns had an exceptionally important task and that was keeping Yggdrasil the Norse world tree healthy and alive. Everyday they would carry water from the well of Urd and collect the earth that laid around the well and bring it to the tree. If they so much as missed a day the tree would start to rot.

We hope you love this range just as much as we do!
