Artwork Explained: Bastet

Artwork Explained: Bastet

Introducing the eerie and mysterious Bastet apparel range! This Egyptian inspired apparel range features the most fascinating visuals and colors that will take you on a journey to ancient Egypt in a modern and aesthetically pleasing way. This range has been designed by the extremely talented artist Pyros. Let's learn more about this wearable masterpiece.

Cats were extremely important to the ancient Egyptians, they were even considered to be Demi-Gods. Cat's protected crops, slowed the spread of disease by rodents and were thought to be a physical representation of the Goddess Bastet.

Bastet was the goddess of protection, pleasure, and the bringer of good health. Bastet was the daughter of Ra, sister of Sekhmet, the wife of Ptah, and the mother of Mihos and had the head of a cat and a slender female human body.

It was believed that every day Bastet would ride through the sky with her father, the sun god Ra. As his boat pulled the sun through the sky she would watch over and protect him. At night, she would turn into a cat to protect Ra from his greatest enemy, the serpent Apep.

We hope you love this range as much as we do!
