Artwork Explained: Alfadir

Artwork Explained: Alfadir

Introducing this week's design drop the captivating brand Alfadir apparel range inspired by the Norse All Father himself. This extraordinary work of wearable art features the most intricate knotwork in a Norse Stone carving colorway. Let's now explore the artist, the meaning and the artwork behind this incredible work of wearable art.

This range was curated by the talented Max Helland Cherepanov @drakkar_tattoo_spd. Max is an exceptionally talented artist, Tattoo artist and bone carver who specialises in Norse, Scandinavian and Mythological designs. His artwork is precise, detailed and full of depth, dimension and the interesting use of shading.

The artwork in the Alfadir range, Alfadir meaning all father in Norse mythology is a title used to refer to Odin. Odin is the Norse king of the Aesir Gods who were the principal Gods in Norse mythology. Odin was considered the father of all the Norse gods and was mainly associated with magic, wisdom, war, poetry, and the runic alphabet.

In Valhalla, Odin sat on his throne called Hlidskjalf from where he watched over all the Nine Realms. Odin looked for further knowledge in the runes and in order to achieve this, he hung himself from Yggdrasil with a spear in his side for nine days and nights without food or drink. Odin further lost his eye in the quest for further knowledge and had 2 wolves, 2 ravens and an eight legged horse. The artwork features depictions of Odin surrounded by Knotwork, ships and also a depiction of Fenrir.

We hope you love this range just as much as we do!
